NTA, Inc. offers Medical Review Officer Services for the employer, laboratory, or other organization needing the services of a qualified DOT Medical Review Officer (MRO) for their lab accounts.
In addition, we offer MRO services for non-DOT accounts. Our MROs are all qualified and receive the required CEs and recertifications required by DOT. MRO Support Staff is available to assist NTA clients with basic MRO questions.
A Medical Review Officer (MRO) is a person who is a licensed physician and who is responsible for receiving and reviewing laboratory results generated by an employer’s drug-testing program and evaluating medical explanations for specific drug test results.
An MRO acts as an independent and impartial “gatekeeper” and advocate for the accuracy and integrity of the drug testing process. The MRO provides a quality assurance review of the drug testing process for the specimens under his or her purview; determines if there is a legitimate medical explanation for laboratory confirmed positive, adulterated, substituted, and invalid drug test results; ensures the timely flow of test results and other information to employers; and protects the confidentiality of the drug testing information.
